Paisaje en desarrollo: intervención de pintura sobre una pantalla de televisión.

El video muestra 10 tomas jas de calles y autopistas del área periférica de la ciudad de Quito, capital del Ecuador. Cada uno de estos paisajes en movimiento son intervenidos con pintura para recrear de memoria, los espacios verdes que fueron destruidos en pro del desarrollo urbano. Esta obra fue elaborada en el año 2021, en un área de la ciudad de Quito que se ha visto rápidamente transformada por el desarrollo vial, urbano y económico, y donde las actividades de agricultura y ganadería familiar fueron desplazadas. Los terrenos que antiguamente fueron utilizados para el pastoreo, la pequeña agricultura e incluso para vivienda informal desaparecen rápidamente para dar paso al asfalto y condominios inasequibles para la mayoría de la población. El rápido crecimiento del área urbana es una problemática en muchos países debido a su impacto ambiental y social.

En la instalación realizada en el Centro Cultural de la PUCE, en el contexto de la exposicipón de Plantario LAB, se usaron las siguientes plantas nativas: Aliso, Huarango, Níspero, Chilca, Pumamaqui, Guanto, Guaba, Arrayán, Laurel de cera, Cholan, Porotón, Capulí, Chirimoya, Guzmán, Chinchin, Menta de montaña. 

Todas las plantas fueron reubicadas y sembradas luego de cerrada la exposicición Plantario Lab.

Developing landscape: painting intervention on a television screen.

The video shows 10 fixed shots of streets and highways in the peripheral area of the city of Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Each of these moving landscapes are intervened with paint to recreate from memory, the green spaces that were destroyed in favor of urban development. This work was prepared in 2021, in an area of the city of Quito that has been rapidly transformed by road, urban and economic development, and where family agriculture and livestock activities were displaced. The lands that were formerly used for grazing, small agriculture and even for informal housing are quickly disappearing to make way for asphalt and unaffordable condominiums for the majority of the population. The rapid growth of the urban area is a problem in many countries due to its environmental and social impact.

In the installation carried out at the PUCE Cultural Center, in the context of the Plantario LAB exhibition, the following native plants were used: Aliso, Huarango, Níspero, Chilca, Pumamaqui, Guanto, Guaba, Arrayán, Laurel de cera, Cholan , Porotón, Capulí, Chirimoya, Guzmán, Chinchin, Mountain mint.

All the plants were relocated and planted after the Plantario Lab exhibition closed.
